The owners of a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Carson station to report their vehicle was stolen.

The LASD Carson verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Hyundai. Only 11 minutes later officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Hyundai with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Hyundai to the area of Cruces and Wilmington Avenue. The officers spotted the Hyundai parked in a fast food parking lot with a female in the driver seat. The officers were able to detain the female and upon questioning, she admitted to taking the Hyundai. The suspect was arrested and the Hyundai was recovered without damage.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Hyundai Santa Fe in October 2006 by Direct Sales.
