The owner of a 2008 Pontiac G6 contacted the Carlsbad Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from her residence in the city of Carlsbad.

The Carlsbad PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Pontiac. Within 17 minutes deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Pontiac with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Pontiac to a residence near the 1200 block of Warmlands Avenue in Vista. A high risk stop was initiated after the deputies observed four suspects in the Pontiac. The driver was taken into custody for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. The passengers were arrested for outstanding Warrants from San Diego and Orange Counties and for possession of controlled substance.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Pontiac G6 in March 2008 at Findlay Cadillac SAAB in Henderson, Nevada.
