The owner of a 2006 Toyota Matrix contacted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of Bonita.

The San Diego County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later deputies from the San Diego County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to a commercial area located at the Meadow Terrace and Bird Street in Santee.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Matrix in June 2004 at Kearny Mesa Toyota in San Diego, California.
