The owners of a Toyota Land Cruiser contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight from the driveway of their residence.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later, detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Toyota to a neighborhood near 20th Street and Broadway Road in Phoenix.

The auto theft detectives found the Toyota unoccupied on a side street parked in front of an abandoned house.  Surveillance was established on the stolen Toyota for several hours with negative contact with any suspects.  The Toyota was later recovered and processed for evidence.  The owner was contacted and responded to the scene.  The owners were happy to get the Toyota back in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Land Cruiser in December 1994 at Toyota of North Hollywood in Hollywood, California.
