The owners of a 2004 BMW contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen in the city of Los Angeles.

The LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within 6 minutes officers from the Corona Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to a residential neighborhood located at 9th and Ramona Street in Corona.  The Anaheim Police Department air unit (Air Angel) directed the officers where the suspect was hiding in the backyard of a residence.  The suspect’s identification and wallet were found in the stolen BMW, he was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.  The suspect was on bail for a previous offense.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW 325IC in December 2003 at McKenna’s Volkswagen-Porsche-Audi, in Norwalk, California.
