LoJack® System Helps Monterey Park Police Department Recover Stolen Honda Accord

The owners of a Honda Accord contacted the Montebello Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects.

Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Air-8 flight deputies picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Honda to the city of Monterey Park and located the vehicle parked at College View and Crest Vista Dr.  They then notified officers from the Monterey Park PD of the location.  An officer responded to that area and set up surveillance on the Honda.  Within ten minutes, the officer observed a male adult walk up to the vehicle, look around and enter.  At that time the officer requested back up and deployed on the Honda assisted by back up, taking the suspect into custody without further incident. The suspect who was on Felony Probation and was booked for the vehicle theft, possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia and Possession of Burglary tools.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in February 1996 at Goudy Honda in Alhambra, California.
