The owners of a 2005 Saturn contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The LAPD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Saturn.

Thirty-two (32) minutes later, the LAPD Air 10 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Saturn with the on board LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in air units.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the Saturn to the area of Moreheart Ave and Pierce Street. Patrol units from the LAPD Foothill division responded to the location and observed the Saturn parked at the curb. The Saturn was unoccupied. The patrol unit received an emergency call and had to leave the location. The officers returned to the stolen Saturn and observed a female driving the vehicle eastbound on Pierce Street thru Laurel Canyon Blvd. The stolen Saturn’s license plates were removed and now had paper plates. The officers conducted a traffic stop and took the female suspect into custody for auto theft related charges. The suspect was in possession of a shaved key.

The Saturn was released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Saturn in October 2007 at Saturn of Cerritos in Cerritos, California.
