The owners of a 2014 Dodge Durango contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report their vehicle was stolen.

The LASD Compton verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Only 17 minutes later deputies from the LASD Century station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Dodge to the 10700 block of St. James in the city of Lynwood.  The deputies found the Dodge abandoned but undamaged. The Dodge was recovered and later returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Durango in July 2014 at Champion Dodge in Downey, California.
