The owners of a 2005 Mini Cooper contacted the Austin Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen.  The owner left his Mini Cooper running unattended in his driveway.   When he returned to his vehicle, it was missing.

The Austin PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mini Cooper.

A short while later, officers from the Austin PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mini Cooper with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Mini Cooper to an apartment complex where they found it abandoned in the parking lot.  The Mini Cooper was recovered in good condition.  Officers are reviewing the apartment complex’s video to see if a suspect can be identified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mini Cooper in January of 2005 at Westchester BMW/Mini in White Plains, New York.
