The owners of a 1996 Honda Accord contacted the Long Beach Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by suspects unknown.

Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from La Verne Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the moving Honda to the area of White St and First St where the vehicle was observed by the tracking officer.  The officer made a U-turn and caught up to the Honda a ¼ mile and affected a felony traffic stop with the assistance of a second back-up officer at White St and Arrow Hwy.  The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.  During the field investigation, the officers learned the suspect had an outstanding felony arrest warrant for Burglary.  The suspect was booked for the warrant and for driving a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. The Honda was stored for safe keeping.  It should be noted this was the 4th time since 2008 that the Honda had been stolen and recovered by LoJack.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in October 1997 at Honda of Thousand Oaks in Thousand Oaks, California.
