The owners of a 2003 Honda Civic contacted the Hemet Police Department and reported that their vehicle was stolen by means of a “Car Jack.”  A named suspect was listed in the initial stolen information.

Officers from the Hemet PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Colton Police Department  picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the 400 block of East O Street, where they observed the vehicle and a male standing neat the driver’s side.  While waiting for back up, the suspect entered the Honda and drove off.  A felony traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.  A field investigation revealed the suspect driver was the listed suspect in the original “Car Jack” incident.  The Hemet PD Officers responded and took custody of the suspect.  The undamaged Honda was stored for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in February 2008 at Gardena Honda in California.
