The owners of a 2013 John Deere contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report that their equipment was stolen from the city of Century.

The Los Angeles County SD verified the theft and entered the equipment information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the John Deere.

18 minutes later deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen John Deere with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the equipment to a rural neighborhood located in the 14000 block of Highland in the city of Banning.

The Riverside County Auto Theft Interdiction Detail responded to handle the case.  Further investigation revealed the 2013 John Deere 310J Backhoe as well as two additional stolen commercial pieces of equipment found in the property, had been purchased from the same person in Los Angeles.  The other pieces of equipment that were recovered were a 2006 JCB 527-55 Loadall and a 2004 John Deere 210 LE skip loader.
