In the early morning hours the owners of a 2012 Volkswagen Passat discovered that their car was stolen from in front of their home in San Francisco, California.

The San Francisco Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the VW.

Less than 2 hours later the San Francisco PD officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen VW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, officers located the stolen VW in the Bay View Area of San Francisco where it was being driven in traffic.  Officers surrounded the stolen VW and arrested the driver.  The owners of the stolen VW were notified and it was released to them in the field.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2012 Volkswagen Passat in June 2014 at Commonwealth Volkswagen in Santa Ana, California.
