LoJack® System Helps Montclair Police Department Recover Stolen Honda Civic

The owner of this Honda Civic contacted the Ontario Police Department and reported that vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.
Several hours later from the activation, the Ontario PD Air-30 Flight Officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Flight Officers tracked the Honda to the 11000 block of Kadota, city of Montclair. They located the stolen Honda parked in the yard and utilizing their “IR” system, observed two suspects hiding in the yard. They followed the suspects as they fled advising ground units of their location. The suspects were subsequently apprehended without further incident by the Montclair PD officers. Once back at the location, the Montclair PD officers confirmed the stolen Honda and also discovered another recent stolen 1998 Acura. Investigation continues in a possible “Chop Shop” operation.
The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Honda in May 2000 at Rock Honda in Fontana, California.
