The owner of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Within 15 minutes, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Spring Valley station, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Tacoma with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the 3600 block of Birdie Street in Spring Valley.  The Toyota was found abandoned.  Further investigation revealed the suspect was inside a residence where he was identified by witnesses as the person who had driven the stolen Toyota. The suspect was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, warrants and violation of parole.

The Toyota was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tacoma in February 2011 at Frank Motors Toyota in National City, California.
