The owner of a 2009 Mini Cooper contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mini Cooper.

Within 16 minutes, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mini Cooper, with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mini Cooper to the 5600 block of Mission Center Road.

The Mini Cooper was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mini Cooper in April 2008 at Brecht BMW in Escondido, California.
