The owners of a 2014 Toyota Prius contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Forty (40) minutes later, patrol officers from the Mission Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota on a LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC), that are installed in their units. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Toyota was tracked to the area of the 8400 block of Van Nuys Blvd. The Toyota was parked in a shopping center and had been abandoned by the suspect.

The Toyota was released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota in February 2014 at Toyota of Glendale in California.
