The owner of this Chevrolet 1500 contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Within less than one hour from the activation, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Southeast Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to the area of 94th St and Wall St where the signal seemed to be moving.  Following the signal, the officers turned on 93rd St and observed the Chevrolet parked at a driveway gate containing one male driver inside and another male standing at the gate of the property.  When the male outside saw the officers, he walked away from the Chevrolet. The officers deployed on the driver of the Chevrolet and detained him without further incident. The other male who had walked away was detained by another assisting unit. During the field investigation, the officers located a cell phone on the driver and with his permission, noted that he had contacted the suspect who walked away.  They also noted that the cell phone contained numerous texts and photos showing various target cars for future thefts and believed this incident was part of a theft ring.  Both suspects were arrested and booked pending further investigation by Station Detectives.
The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Chevrolet 1500 in April 2006 at Auto West Mazda Subaru in Roseville, California.
