The owner of this Dodge Durango contacted the Fullerton Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Durango.

Within one hour from the activation, the California Highway Patrol flight officers in Air-H-62 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge Durango with the Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that is installed in their aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Durango into the city of Santa Ana and located the vehicle parked mid-block on Bishop east of Sheldon with its passenger door open. They further observed three males inside the Durango. At that time, the helicopter maintained a high altitude surveillance on the Durango until officers from the Santa Ana Police Department could clear a major crime scene and respond.  The Durango began to move and the ground units were directed by the Tactical Flight Officer to a parking lot at 1st St and Booth.  The three suspects were taken into custody by Santa Ana PD officers and later booked for vehicle theft.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Dodge in July 1999 at Cerritos Dodge in California.
