The owner of a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche contacted the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office to report that their Chevrolet was stolen.  The BCSO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Chevrolet was located in the area of East River Road and Jaramillo Road in Belen.  The Valencia County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed the Avalanche parked in a residential yard.  The deputies made contact with the occupants of the residence and were advised that a family member asked to park the Avalanche there while he went to El Paso, Texas.  The deputies recovered the Avalanche and had it towed from the scene to be released to the happy owner at a later time.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Avalanche at Rydell Automotive Group in Van Nuys, California, in April 2004.
