The managers of a car dealership in Grand Junction, Colorado, reported the theft of a Chevrolet Cavalier.  The investigating officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cavalier.

Eight-minutes after the entry and activation officers with the Denver PD, Arvada PD and Wheat Ridge PD began picking up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Arvada and Wheat Ridge officers tracked the Chevrolet to a motel parking lot on Kipling Street.  The Chevrolet was recovered undamaged and evidence was recovered from the vehicle.  A suspect who had been named in the original report was not present with the Chevrolet.

The investigation is on-going by the Metro Auto Theft Task Force.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Cavalier in May 2003 at C&M Chevrolet in San Diego, California.
