The owner of a 2005 Nissan contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-Rampart Division to report that his vehicle was stolen. The owner had left his Nissan running and went into a store.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

Four (4) minutes later, the LAPD-flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan, with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their air units. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Nissan was tracked to the area of Strathern Street and Lankershim Blvd.  The LAPD-North Hollywood patrol units responded to the location and observed the vehicle southbound on Lankershim Blvd. While the officers were following the Nissan, the Nissan suddenly pulls to the curb and stops. The suspect was taken into custody for Grand Theft Auto without incident.

The Nissan was impounded for safe keeping.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2005 Nissan in December 2005 at Miller Nissan in Van Nuys, California.
