The owner of a 2006 GMC Pickup contacted the Kern County Sheriff’s Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The Kern County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the GMC.

Less than 30 minutes after the LoJack was activated, an officer from the Bakersfield Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen GMC with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in police vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked and located the GMC in a residential area near the 500 block of Lake Street in central Bakersfield. The GMC was found abandoned on the side of the road. It was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the GMC Pickup in January 2006 at Motor City GMC in Bakersfield, California.
