The owner of a 2003 Ford Mustang contacted the Fresno Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The Fresno PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

About three hours later and more than 200 miles to the south, a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC’s) that are installed in police vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputy tracked the Ford to the 2100 block of Florence Avenue in Los Angeles. The deputy located the Ford abandoned in the parking lot of a local business. The Ford was recovered intact and undamaged; it was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in April 2003 through CarsDirect.com in Culver City, California.
