The owner of a 2006 Acura RSX contacted the La Mesa Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of La Mesa.

The La Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura.

A short while later, officers from the La Mesa PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura RSX with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Acura to the area of I-125 and I-8.  A suspect was seen inside the Acura and was followed for a short distance.  A traffic stop was attempted but the suspect tried to flee.  The San Diego County Sheriff’s K-9 units were in the area and located the suspect at the 8800 block of Grossmont Blvd.  A K-9 took a bite at the suspect where after he surrendered willingly to police.  He was charged with vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and evading arrest.

The Acura was recovered undamaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura RSX in June 2006 at Acura of Escondido in California.
