The owners of a Honda Civic contacted the Wheat Ridge Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home.  The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later one of the Colorado State Patrol Aircraft on routine patrol picked up the signal from the stolen Honda with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The computers are installed in law enforcement patrol cars and aircraft.  Soon thereafter CSP ground units were also picking up the signal.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, these Troopers tracked the stolen Honda to the area of 72nd Avenue and Larsh Drive.

A felony traffic stop was initiated by Troopers and two subjects were arrested.  They were found to be in possession of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and an illegal weapon.  These charges, plus Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft, are being filed.

The Honda was recovered undamaged.  A second stolen vehicle from Wheat Ridge, a 1991 Honda Civic DX, was also recovered as a direct result of this investigation and a third suspect tentatively identified.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in May 2003 at Miller Honda in Van Nuys, California.
