This Lincoln MKZ was one of twelve vehicles fraudulently obtained from several locations belonging to one dealership in Southern California. The suspect(s) used fraudulent documents to obtain the vehicles and were in the process of title washing the vehicles. The investigation is being conducted by OCATT (Orange County Auto Theft Taskforce). OCATT entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln MKZ.

Only 27 minutes later, officers from the Pasadena Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lincoln to a parking lot in the 200 block of Washington Boulevard in the city of Pasadena.  The Pasadena PD contacted OCATT and several of their investigators responded to the location.  A surveillance of the Lincoln was conducted; however a suspect was not taken into custody.  The Lincoln was recovered undamaged and returned to the dealership.  OCATT’s investigation is ongoing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln MKZ in August 2011 at Galpin Jaguar-Lincoln-Volvo in Van Nuys, California.
