The owner of this Mitsubishi Endeavor contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Barstow Station and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim indicated that a known subject had removed the vehicle keys without permission while the victim was sleeping.  The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mitsubishi.

A short time later, deputies from the SBSD Barstow station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mitsubishi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Mitsubishi from Mountain View St to the area of 2nd Ave where the Mitsubishi was observed travelling southbound on 2nd Ave.  A felony traffic stop was initiated in the 600 block of 2nd Ave and three subjects were detained. The field investigation identified the driver as the named suspect.  He was taken into custody and later booked VC 10851 Driving a Motor Vehicle without permission.  A second suspect was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the third was released at the scene of the stop.  The Mitsubishi was released to the victim.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Mitsubishi in April 2013 at Enterprise in Vista, California.
