The owner of this Toyota Prius contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office Hesperia station and reported that their vehicle had been stolen giving the name of a possible suspect. The deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later deputies from the Hesperia Station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to an apartment complex at Tokay and 9th in the city of Victorville locating the Toyota hidden behind a garage.  A ground search located a male sleeping inside an open garage. A field investigation identified this male as the listed suspect who also had the Toyota keys in his possession.  This suspect was booked for receiving stolen property. The undamaged Toyota was later returned to the owner.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Toyota Prius in August 2008.
