LoJack® System Helps Lynwood Police Department Recover Stolen BMW X5 Taken From Police Impound

The Lynwood Police Department discovered a 2004 BMW X5LL, which had been impounded after a felony narcotics arrest, was missing from their impound lot. Lynwood Police Department entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW X5LL. Information developed after the steal showed the offender might be living in Michigan City, Indiana.

Shortly after the LoJack concealed in the BMW X5LL was activated a NICB agent picked up the steal in Gary Indiana. Following the audible and directional signals coming from the stolen BMW the vehicle was located parked unoccupied on the 700 block of Ralston in the New Brunswick neighborhood of Gary. Gary PD were summoned to the scene where the BMW was recovered undamaged and towed back to Lynwood for processing. It was learned that the vehicle was stolen by an escapee from custody. This investigation continues with the offender now having warrants issued for his arrest.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2004 BMW X5LL was installed at South Bay BMW in Hermosa Beach California on 9/23/2004.
