The owners of a 2006 Mercedes C230 contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department -Norwalk station to report their vehicle was stolen.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department -Norwalk verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

Only three minutes later deputies from LASD-Lakewood station picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The deputies picked up the signal in the area of Paramount Boulevard and Jackson Street in the city of Paramount.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the vehicle a short distance to the area of Paramount Boulevard and Alondra.  The deputies located the vehicle in a parking lot in an alley.  The vehicle was running with the lights on and a subject rummaging through the open trunk.  The deputies detained the subject and upon questioning determined the subject was involved in the theft of the vehicle.  The subject was arrested and the vehicle was recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes C230 in May 2006.
