The owners of a 2005 Toyota Tacoma contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department-Palmdale Station to report that their vehicle was stolen.

LASD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short time later, patrol deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department-Victor Valley Station picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System installed on the stolen Toyota on the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, the vehicle was tracked to the area of the 2700 block of Sunny Slope. The vehicle was observed parked in front of a private residence. The front plate was missing and the ignition was punched. The deputies made contact with the occupants at the location. The suspect claimed that the vehicle was his, and provided the deputies paperwork from his impounded vehicle. The suspect had placed his License plate on the rear of the stolen vehicle, and covered up the public VIN number. Detectives from the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Force responded to the location. The suspect was taken into custody for 487 PC (GTA), without incident.  The detectives obtained and served a search warrant for the location. The detectives found narcotics inside of the residence, and took two additional suspects into custody, one for possession of narcotics, and another for a parole violation.  The vehicle was impounded for evidence.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota on 03/09/05 at Hamer Toyota, in the city of Mission Hills, CA.
