The owner of this Toyota contacted the Pomona Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Within minutes after activation, officers from the El Monte Police Department picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Tacoma with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  El Monte Air-44 flight officers were notified of the area of the signal and lifted off from their helipad.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the vehicle towards Pomona, and then realized the vehicle was headed W/B on the 10 Freeway from Kellogg Hill.  Air-44 tracked the signal W/B and spotted the vehicle approaching Santa Anita Ave where patrol units entered onto the freeway and caught up to the vehicle. Patrol units initiated a felony traffic stop at Del Mar Ave and the 10 Freeway taking the driver into custody without further incident.  He was later booked VC 10851 driving a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. The undamaged vehicle was later released to the owner.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Toyota in March 2005.
