The  owners of a BMW X3 contacted the Englewood PD to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later officers in Denver, Edgewater, Mountain View and Lakewood were picking up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen BMW with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Denver officers tracked and located the vehicle near 14th and Knox.  The vehicle had been abandoned by the thieves.  Evidence from other suspected crimes was collected from the vehicle prior to it being released back to the very happy owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW X3 in September 2004 in California.
