The owner of this Scion contacted the LAPD Wilshire Division and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Scion.

A short while later, deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Central station picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Scion with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle in the area of Delarosa and the 210 Freeway. The Scion apparently had travelled E/B from Los Angeles into the Highland area as deputies were tracking. Deputies from the Highland Station monitored the radio calls but were detailed to a suspicious person knocking on doors in the 6000 block of Emmerton Lane in Highland.  As the officers arrived they saw the Scion and suspect and detained him without further incident.  During a field investigation, the suspect admitted he had driven the vehicle to that location and was on his way to the Mountains.  He was arrested and later booked VC 10851 driving a motor vehicle without owner’s permission.  The undamaged Scion was stored and later returned to the victim.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Scion in June 2014.
