The owner of this Kia Rio contacted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Kia.

Less than 30 minutes after the LoJack® System was activated and more than 270 miles to the north, investigators from CCAT, the Fresno Police Department Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent signals from the LoJack® System on the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers installed in their undercover vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack® computers, the investigators tracked the vehicle to a shopping center parking lot near Cedar and Dakota avenues in northeast Fresno. The investigators found the vehicle abandoned in the parking lot. The vehicle was placed under surveillance for several hours but the thieves never returned. The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged. It was stored pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Kia Rio by Perris Valley Dodge-Jeep in Perris Valley, California in November of 2013
