Here is an example of an especially fast recovery of a stolen car by police assisted by the LoJack® system. A 2010 Lexus IS 250 taken from its owner’s San Diego, CA residence on a recent Sunday was located by local law enforcement, with help from LoJack, in less than a half hour after activation.

On June 27th, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the IS 250, which was installed at Lexus Kearny Mesa in San Diego, CA.

Within thirty minutes, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies found the Lexus parked and unoccupied in a hotel lot in the Mission Valley section of San Diego. After a short surveillance, a suspect entered the car and was immediately taken into custody. The IS 250 was retrieved and soon returned to its elated owner.
