The owner of a BMW X3 got a very unpleasant surprise on a recent Monday when he discovered his SUV was missing from his residence in Chula Vista, CA. This vehicle had been protected with the LoJack® system when it was purchased, so police were able to recover it the same day it was stolen.

On June 28th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the Chula Vista Police Department to report that his SUV was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the x3, which was installed at BMW of San Diego, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the BMW on Via Suspiros in San Diego. The X3 was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner.
