The owners of a 2013 Chevrolet Impala were doubly glad that they had the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their vehicle. Why? Because thieves attempted to steal it on two separate occasions in the 11 months since they bought the Impala, and, in both instances, the car was recovered by law enforcement assisted by LoJack.

The most recent theft was on June 10th, 2014. On that date, the Chevrolet’s owners contacted the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department-East Valley Station to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the crime and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Impala, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Reseda, CA.

A short time later, patrol officers from the Port Hueneme Police Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The Chevy was found parked and abandoned on the street in a residential area. Police retrieved the Impala and soon returned it to its appreciative owners.
