When the owner of a 2014 BMW 320i discovered it was missing from his home in San Diego, CA, he realized what a good idea it was to have the LoJack® system installed when he bought his car just five months before. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the 320i in less than an hour after activation.

On May 29th, 2014, the BMW’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the 328i, which was installed at BMW of San Diego, CA.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The BMW was located on Maryland Street, where it was found parked and unoccupied. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of two suspects. The 328i, valued at $44,925, was retrieved and soon returned to its appreciative owner.
