The LoJack® System Helps Riverside, California Auto Theft Interdiction Detail Recover Stolen Toyota Tacoma

In this case, a Toyota Tacoma stolen from its owners’ Riverside, CA home is quickly recovered by local law enforcement aided by the LoJack® system. With LoJack’s help, police not only located the pickup but apprehended the suspected thief as well.

On June 9th, 2014, the Toyota’s owners contacted the Riverside Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Tacoma, which was installed at Toyota of Riverside, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, detectives from the Riverside Autotheft Interdiction Detail (RAID) picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The detectives tracked the Toyota to a residential neighborhood, where they found it parked and unoccupied. After a brief surveillance, a suspect walked up to the pickup, put his dog inside, put some gas into the tank and drove away. The detectives requested backup from Riverside PD, whose officers quickly performed a traffic stop and took the suspect into custody. The Tacoma was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
