When you park your car in a public lot, you presume that it’s going to be safe. There are lots of other vehicles around and the area itself is pretty wide open. Unfortunately, thieves can strike anywhere, as the owner of a 2013 Toyota Corolla discovered when his car was taken from a parking area in West Sacramento, CA. The LoJack® system that this owner had installed when purchasing his Corolla assisted local law enforcement in making a fast, safe recovery.

On June 7th, 2014, the Toyota’s owner contacted the West Sacramento Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Corolla, which was installed at Roseville Toyota in Roseville, CA.

The next morning, deputies with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Toyota was found parked and abandoned in a business parking lot on Watt Avenue. The undamaged Corolla was retrieved and soon back in the possession of its appreciative owner.
