The LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles, California Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Honda Accord

In this case, a Honda Accord was stolen from its owner’s residence in Maywood, CA, on a recent Thursday. Local police were able to quickly and safely recover the car and take the suspected thief into custody with help from the LoJack® system.

On May 29th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s East LA Station to report their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Accord was then automatically activated.

A short while later, LASD flight deputies picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computer installed in their airship, The Honda was located traveling on 58th Street in Maywood. The driver stopped, exited the vehicle and entered a residence. The air crew requested backup from LASD ground units, who arrived at the scene as the suspect left on a bicycle. The bike was pulled over and the suspect taken into custody. The Accord’s owners were grateful to have their vehicle returned to them.
