This case involves a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was stolen from its owner’s residence in San Diego, CA. Because this SUV had been protected with the LoJack® system when it was purchased, local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered it in just a half hour after activation.

On May 27th, 2014, the Jeep’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Grand Cherokee, which was installed at McCune Motors in National City, CA.

Within 30 minutes, officers from the San Diego PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Jeep was located on Commercial Avenue, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Grand Cherokee was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owners.
