This case involves an Acura Integra stolen from its owners’ home in San Bernardino, CA. With assistance from the LoJack® system installed in the vehicle, local law enforcement not only recovered it, but captured three suspects as well.

On May 18th, 2014, the Acura’s owner contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Central Station to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Integra, which was installed at Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, deputies from the SBSO Central Station picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Acura was found parked and unoccupied in a motel lot near Washington and Barton. After a brief surveillance, a man approached the car, took something out of it, then entered the motel, exited quickly, and left the property in another vehicle. A traffic stop was performed and the suspect was taken into custody. A female in the unit the suspect had left was originally let go, but was later identified as a suspect in an earlier car theft and apprehended. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a third suspect. The Integra was retrieved by police and soon returned to its relieved owner.
