The owner of a 2013 Audi S5 got an unpleasant surprise when he left work on a recent Monday and discovered his vehicle missing from the parking lot. It had been less than a year since he purchased the car and had the LoJack® system installed. That turned out to have been a very wise choice. With LoJack’s help, local law enforcement recovered the S5, damage-free, in less than two hours after activation.

On May 26th, 2014, the Audi’s owner reported the crime to the San Jose Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the S5, which was installed at Stevens Creek Audi in San Jose, CA.

Just over an hour later, Palo Alto PD officers picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Audi was located stopped in traffic in downtown Palo Alto. Officers surrounded the car and took the driver into custody. The undamaged S5 was retrieved and soon returned to its pleased owner.
