The owner of a 2009 Ford Mustang discovered it had been stolen from her residence in San Diego, CA, on a recent Friday. Because the car had been protected with the LoJack® system when it was purchased, local law enforcement, with help from LoJack, recovered it quickly and safely that same day.

On April 25th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mustang, which was installed at Texas Motors Ford in Fort Worth, TX.

Just a few minutes later, deputies from San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Ford was located traveling near Holly Avenue at 9th Street Imperial Beach. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver and passenger were arrested. The undamaged Mustang was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
