The owner of a 2014 Mercedes-Benz ML550 parked her vehicle in a paid lot in San Francisco on a recent Wednesday evening, and was extremely shocked when she arrived to retrieve it the next day, it was gone. Thanks to the great work of local law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system, the SUV was retrieved in just over an hour after activation.

On April 30th, 2014, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the San Francisco Police Department to report that her SUV was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the ML550, which was installed at Mercedes-Benz of Walnut Creek, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Marin County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Mercedes was located being driven in an apartment parking lot in Marin City. A traffic stop was performed and the driver arrested. The undamaged ML550, valued at approximately $71,000, was retrieved and soon returned to its happy owner.
