The owner of a Ford F-350 was unpleasantly surprised to discover his pickup missing for his residence in San Diego, CA, on a recent Sunday. The LoJack® system that he had installed when purchasing his truck proved its worth by helping local law enforcement recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On March 30th, 2014, the Ford’s owner contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the F-350, which was installed at Drew Ford Volkswagen Hyundai in La Mesa, CA.

Just a few minutes later, officers from the La Mesa Police Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Ford was found in a commercial area in La Mesa, where it was parked and abandoned. The retrieved F-350, valued at $33,575, was soon returned to its relieved owner.
