When the owner of a 2012 Lexus IS250 left his car at a dealership in La Mesa, CA, probably the last thought on his mind was that it would be stolen. When the unthinkable did happen, he was glad he had decided to protect his asset with the LoJack® system when it was purchased. With LoJack’s help, local police were able to recover the IS 250 in less than a half hour after activation.

On March 17th, 2014, the owner of the Lexus contacted the El Cajon Police Department to report that the vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the IS 250, which was installed at Lexus San Diego in San Diego, CA.

Within 23 minutes, deputies from San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the Lexus in a lot at a city park in La Mesa. Next to it was another vehicle taken from the same dealership. The Lexus, valued at $28,000, was retrieved and soon returned to its thankful owner. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of five suspects.
